FRENCH TOAST STICKS

French Toast Sticks

French toast sticks make the perfect make-ahead breakfast. You can make them in just a few minutes and require minimal effort.

Ingredients

• 6-8 slices of bread cut into sticks (I use challah)
• 2 eggs
• 1 cup milk
• 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
• 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
• 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
• 1/4 cup brown sugar
• pinch of salt
• melted butter, for cooking

Instructions

1. Cut each slice of toast into four sticks. Set aside.
2. Add eggs to a bowl and beat slightly. Add milk, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, brown sugar, and salt. Whisk everything together until well combined.
3. If making in the oven, preheat your oven to 375 degrees and line a baking sheet with foil.
4. Dip each bread stick in the egg mixture, make sure to coat all sides. Place the sticks on the baking sheet. Brush with some melted butter and bake for 6 minutes. Remove from the oven, flip them, brush them with butter again and bake for 6 more minutes.
5. If making on the stovetop, heat a skillet over medium heat and add 2 tablespoons of butter. Once the butter has melted, place the sticks in a single layer. Cook until golden brown on all sides, flipping as needed.
6. Serve with maple syrup and ENJOY!
